It has been a long while since I last binge-watched any series because I really need my beauty sleep but I gave it all up for "The Chosen":
Rated a super impressive 100% by RottenTomatoes and 9.7 by IMDb, this unique crowdfunded TV series has 158 million views to date (and still increasing every second!).
What I love about it is its ability to bring stories and characters in the Gospels to life in a way that is not preachy yet relates to us personally, reaching the very depths of the human heart; you cannot watch The Chosen without being transformed internally!
In addition, it aims to be historically and theologically accurate as the creators of the show brought in a Catholic priest, a Jewish rabbi, and an evangelical scholar as consultants!
Its portrayal of Jesus is refreshingly touching because it shows us the humanness of God; His human needs, compassion, limitations, kindness, love and most surprising of all: His great sense of humour!
Yes, you heard me right: Jesus Christ can be funny and why not since God created everything including humour! And we need it badly in difficult times, in moments of despair and in the midst of suffering. In particular, this is one of my favourite scenes where Jesus explained to Simon's wife why He returned to heal her mother, "Normal Simon is difficult enough you think I want to travel with a worried Simon."
Wait no longer - Come & See - Be one of The Chosen now!
P.S. I would recommend starting from Season 1 Episode 4 first and once you get to know the characters or finish Season 1, then head back to the first 3 Episodes.
“Come,” he replied, “and you will see.” So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon." John 1:39
"For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted." Hebrews 2:17-18
